The book of Daniel is impregnated with past, present and future keys for the kingdom of God. In the 9th chapter, Daniel the prophet leader of the Jewish community begins to look to Jehovah for answers concerning his people's Babylonian exile. Revelation surfaces from the prophectic writings of Jeremiah and the heavenlies with an angel sent from the Lord.
The passage defines a clear time table from the biblical commandment to rebuild Jerusalem to the arrival of the messianic deliverer, his crucifixion and the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70 ending the old covenant dispensation. Some scholars carry the prophecy to the millennial reign of Christ.
C.J. Mears often commented, "if through the revelation and time clock of prophetic writing Jehovah helped the Jewish people identify their place in His economy, we too have hope by the same inspiration of Holy Scripture to find our present locale and final destination in God's majestic plan."
